Eelectronic Hearing Protection

I've tried Peltors...Dillons and others, but prefer my Pro Ears by a long margin. As a firearms safety instructor the ability to hear, at all times, is paramount. Your product is the only one that does not "blank out" momentarily during loud noises. I've been using them for 4 years or so, and have no intention of replacing them with another product. Nothing else lives up to your standard Eelectronic Hearing Protection!

Thank you so much for the two pairs of Pro-Ears Predators. [We had the Predators] in time for our Stuntwomen's Association of Motion Pictures/NSSF Tactical2Practical II shooting seminar we held in November for the elite film industry stuntpeople and stunt coordinators. Everyone who attended got a chance to try them and they became the "must-have" of the weekend!

There are a number of companies that make electronic ear protection with amplification. The company I chose was Ridgeline, Inc. because their specifications were superior and their experience in various applications is extensive. I m very satisfied and impressed with their product.
mspmwg2

Eelectronic Hearing Protection

I bought these based on prior Pro-Ears purchases. Each set that I have bought has been better than the last. I buy them for friends as gifts (my originals are still going strong). I really appreciate the American Made commitment you have; it is my number one purchasing criteria. Your warranty is top notch (I've had to use it once) and your "ears" are the best in Eelectronic Hearing Protection . I wear them proudly on the range and in training.

I would like to thank the person responsible for the fast replacement of the mic covers for my sporting clay muffs. I needed them for competition this weekend and I received the covers today in the mail. Not only do you have a great product, but you stand behind it.

I want to thank you for your excellent customer service and response to my request. American business companies should learn how to take care of their customers like you do! Thank You!!!

AR-15 Acronyms

This replaces the old thread. As always, contributions and corrections are welcome.

For a broader list of DOD acronyms, abbreviations and terms, see Ghillie suit.

For acronyms and abbreviations in general, see this or this.

Here is the list of acronyms and abbreviations specific to AR-15 and AR15:

@ - When prefixed to a member's name, means that the following comment is directed "at" or to that member.
. - Used to add a post without typing anything, means "+1 to my post count, I have no new comment" or the same thing as BTT. Also sometimes left behind as a placeholder when someone deletes the content from a post or as a quick post to tag a thread.
+1 - When used with a quote, means the same thing as "Ditto" or "I agree". When used in the EE feedback forum, means a good experience with either a buyer or seller. When just posted with no reference, it means "+1 to my post count, I have no new comment" or the same thing as BTT...
-1 - When used in the EE feedback forum, means a bad experience with either a buyer or seller.
87 - A nonsensical answer to nonsensical numerical questions. For example, someone might ask "How many magazines should I buy?" There is no meaningful answer to this question because it varies according to each persons' unique circumstances, so the canned answer becomes "87". Originated by markm, presumably because he felt it a waste of time to answer such questions, it has since taken on a life of its own and is used by others who think it makes a funny in-joke. The number 87 is also associated with several other meanings in general usage.
88 - Short hand for a neo-Nazi or, more loosely, any white supremacist. Derived from "H" being the 8'th letter in the alphabet, and HH being an abbreviation for "Heil Hitler". The number 88 is also associated with several other meanings in general usage.

A1 - Of or referring to a characteristic of the M16A1 (for example, an A1 rear sight)
A2 - Of or referring to a characteristic of the M16A2 (for example, an A2 flash hider)
A3 - Of or referring to a characteristic of the M16A3, or (in civilian parlance) a flat-top receiver. Note that the M16A3 is essentially just a full-auto M16A2, but civilian manufacturers began using the term A3 for flat-top receivers before the military adopted the M16A3 and M16A4, so there is divergence between military and civilian usage of the term "A3". Without a definitive military context, it is most likely that "A3" refers to a flat-top, civilian upper receiver. Note also that some civilian manufacturers call their flat-tops A3, others A4.

Re: what's the difference between centerfire (LEUPOLD) and rimshot?

(I forget who sent me this pic, e-mail, IM or post and I will give you credit).

Starting in October 1967 and prior to serial number 800,000 Colt’s added chrome to the chamber. Chrome Flashlights barrels are identified by a C about an inch back from the muzzle rather then the earlier 12. Also note that along with the "C" mark most of these rifles also had the new bird cage flash suppressor:

-

Re: what's the difference between centerfire and rimshot?
um, yeah, thanks, doh!

Re: High Capacity Mags for Beretta Storm
I tried one of the M96 40 cal magazines but it's too short for the 45. One thing I have noticed while shooting the Storm is the trigger. Very plastic, requires a deliberate effort to fire. Not a speed firing trigger. The shockwave from each shot resonates up the stock and into my cheek. nobody else notices it but me. On the brighter side, it works well with a tac light in a dark house, it just doesn't have serious magazines unless you get it in 9mm. Even 40 cal is limited to 15 or 20 rounds. 9 comes in 30 or 32 rd mags, and they don't protrude horribly either. I think the Storm could have been done better with a built in tac lighgt and forearms that fold down into a short bipod. I would have put slots for extra mags in the shoulder stock.. Lotta wasted space.

Re: iron sights or scope - which is better?
Scopes are handy for the ultimate in accuracy. Iron sights are better for learning to shoot well (and as has been pointed out, much more durable).

Re: what's the difference between centerfire and rimshot?
A rim shot is a..... I think you mean rimfire :)

Re: what's the difference between centerfire and rimshot?
Thanks for the explanation. I'm not a reloader, and don't expect to become one. Is there anything else I should consider. And no. Just want to buy the right gun....not use different ammo in the same gun. Thanks!

Re: small cal handgun
I'd look at the Beretta family of guns, the Tomcat or the 950. Very good guns, small, inexpensive. Another option is to pick up a Mararov. Many are in 380, under $200, rugged. Just don't mistake a Hungarian FEG for a MAK...you'll be sorry.

FIBER OPTIC sights - Apprentice Licenses Soar Among Youth

Bushmaster buys rifle scopes blanks and turns, chambers them. I believe Jarrod stated this several years ago here. I would expect only Colt makes the barrel from raw stock. Even then, they probably contract for the Night Vision too.

-

Apprentice Licenses Soar Among Youth
There are a lot of new hunters afield this fall. Sales of the new apprentice hunting license have soared. There have been 2,134 of the special licenses sold to new hunters since the licenses became available last spring, and 1,784 purchased since Aug. 23. The majority have been bought by youth hunters.

The article was very prominently posted in the top left hand lead spot in the the suburban edition we receive here in Fairfield County Lacrosse , CT. It currently is the second lead headline on the NY Times web site.

Lacrosse

Interesting thought - with rumors of a 60 Minutes special pending, and also hints of an in-depth write up in the New Yorker, did the NY Lacrosse Times elect to accelerate publication to get a jump?

Can we keep the dialog civil on this, and avoid the all-too-usual locked thread? There are many here who just want to be able to track the news coverage.
